Lesson One: Works of the Flesh
Text: Galatians 5:19-20
Memory Verse: "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye
live through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall
live. (Rom. 8:13)
INTRODUCTION
Works of the flesh in Biblical terms carries the same weight and
suffers the same fate as witchcraft. Just as a witch must die, so also
is he/she who lives by the works of the flesh. Apostles Paul in the
text we read presented sin in four categories namely:
1. Sins of lust
2. Sins of idolatry and witchcraft
3. Sins of temper and
4. Sins of appetite.
Now if withcraft by evil powers or magic is listed along with works of
the flesh, therefore the works of the flesh must be taken seriously
and dealt with like evil powers. It also means that any Christian that
is not livinung a Spirit-filled life is either a witch by evil powers
or a witch by the works of the flesh.
