DAILY CHRISTIAN WISDOM
[Month of application]
GO AND WAKE THE SLEEPING FELLOWS
“All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below the deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. The captain went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us, and we will not perish.” (Jonah 1:5-6 NIV)
Believers in God through Jesus Christ you are blessed.
We will praise the Lord our God; He has filled us with wisdom, Amen.
Today’s Christian Wisdom is an admonition to the believers in God.
Our Focus Text (Jonah 1:5-6) is a cutout from the bible records of Jonah. Sleeping is an aspect of life that we must fulfill as often as possible. Sleeping in today’s lesson implies of them that are weak and tired, those that have gone to rest or are at ease. The mission God gave to each of us to manifest here on earth is a great one, and except we begin to work in that direction, we may never work out half of what is expected of us. Now, when God sent a tempest on the sea, everyone in the ship were afraid. They bible said, “All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own God.” this is the scenario of a ship caught in a tempest, a God sponsored tempest in this case. “And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship.” They did-away with their belongings in order to reduce the weight of the ship. “But Jonah had gone below the deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep.” Jonah could be been as a lazy fellow, how could a person be asleep in a ship in a storm? Moreover, it may be God’s way to direct attention towards Jonah. “The captain went to him and said, “how can you sleep?” this is the question you need to ask that man, woman, boy, girl, and child in the church that has cease to attend the meetings, fat and pray, evangelism, etc. At a point the God said, “Woe to them that are at ease in Israel.” We are to be functional at all times. Very many started hot but now they are as cold as the ice in the refrigerator. It is time to look around, count the attendance of the church, and note them that are asleep by this time. The sailors said to Jonah, “Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us, and we will not perish.” You can imagine what situation where unbelievers will demand a believer to pray in Jesus name so that God will hear them; it was indeed terrible. Locate your members and awake them that are asleep.
We are brethren together here so that when one is weak to sleep, we may revive.
PRAYER: Father, give me power to stand and pray In Jesus name.
CONFESSION: “I will not be reminded by unbelievers to call on my God. Amen.”
WISH: God bless you more.
